Laurence’s Lodge

My name is Laurence Baillie and together with my husband Andrew we are part of the Purrpetual Pet Services Team servicing Mount Barker and the Adelaide hills. We have been involved with animal rescue for twenty years and currently have a number of resident and foster cats, together with a Golden Retriever and an older puppy. We are versed in all aspects of dog and cat care as well as rabbits and pocket pets. I am experienced at administering medications to all species including intramuscular injections and diabetes management with insulin injections, pills, eye drops etc. We would love to assist you with doggy day care and longer boarding options, in-house basic grooming such as nail clipping and baths, dog walks and basic dog training as well as caring for your cats or other pets in the comfort of their own home, including scheduled tray cleaning to save you time and hassle. You will enjoy your holiday knowing I will care for your beloved friend as if they were my pets.

Mylor Manor Poodle Palace & Farmstay

Hello, my name is Katrina and I live in the beautiful Adelaide Hills on a 5 acres property. It’s a bit of a hobby farm come dog park heaven.

My husband Wayne and I are very much animal oriented people. We both have always had different breed dogs in our lives.   I work part time in aged care in my local community which I just love.

In my spare time I’m a wildlife carer and rescuer and have been for the last 35 years. I was a zookeeper for 15 years working at a number of zoos in Australia, UK, Africa and USA.

Over the last 6 years we have been a very active part of the team of foster carers and holiday carers for Chris and Ray.

I have 4 dogs of my own manly poodles or poodle x. Our dogs are a big part of our life and are very much loved family members. My dogs are extremely friendly and accepting of new 4-legged friends coming through our home and make friends very quickly.

Wayne has been a vet for the last 40 years doing small animal veterinary work, then moving into zoo and wildlife veterinary so is very handy to have around in all aspects of veterinary care.

Our property has regular farm fencing, but we have a number of lovely large grassed, shaded, secure areas that suit small and medium size dogs. We have many things to do here on the farm – lots of new smells, running , chasing, ball games, a creek and dog pools to play in during the summer months, paddock exploring or just a quiet place to sleep. There are lovely quiet country roads to walk along if more exercise is needed.

As a poodle/ Oodles owner I understand the breeds with regards to the requirements to regular grooming. I have all my own grooming kit so I can offer grooming from washing to trims if required.

You are welcome to come visit and check the farm out for your fur kids.

Angela’s House of Hounds

I live in the eastern suburbs. My family consists of myself, three dogs and seven fish. My parents were breeders of German Shepherds so I was brought up with animals.

I am also a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of St Peters working for the Community.

I have been providing holiday stays, foster care and pet therapy for five years. I have worked in Mental Health, both hospitals and day clinics. I have also been an ice-skating coach and referee for ice hockey. I worked with children with disabilities on the ice. I assisted in the setting up of the Sledge Hockey program for people with disabilities.

I am a former dog groomer with experience in handling challenging dogs. I have also worked as a strapper for racehorses and harness racing in Victoria and South Australia.

I like having dogs coming to stay. We have lots of fun, multiple walks and there is always a different dog to walk with! I have lots of safe parks in my area. We enjoy a visit to Pet Barn as it’s always fun for the dogs and me. In case of emergency Vet Care is provided by Norwood Parade Vet Clinic who have a great team of vets and vet nurses who provide excellent care for your furry family member.

I love being a part of a Pet Therapy Program. I have five years’ experience in this field. I work alongside a great team of people to provide the best care for your pets. We can rely on each other for support as necessary.

Other Services I can provide:

Companionship, Cuppa, Conversation and Cuddles

Visits to Aged Care Facilities, Retirement Villages and people with disabilities

Anne’s Abode

All our married life we have had dogs, (and cats, the odd chickens, rabbits, fish, even frogs). Our girls grew up with animals so when Elyse came to us and expressed her desire to foster rescue dogs and contacted Chris and Ray we were on board. We became foster ‘grandparents’.

We look after all the foster pups, (and our own grandpups) whenever Elyse has to work in the office, sharing in the love and the sadness which is part of dog foster. We adopted our own rescue pup, Holly and loved her intensely to the end. When Chris asked if we would like to foster, Peter and I both said ‘yes’.

We have been on both parts of the journey, adopting in and out and have learned far more about dog behaviour than I ever expected to and Peter and I know we will keep learning with each new experience.

We have also had the privilege of caring for holiday stay pups. It doesn’t matter if the dog is a rescue or holidaying, we integrate them into our lives as if they were our own; going for walks along the Torrens with my friends; having afternoon tea with the ‘girls’; even attending the grandson’s soccer matches. They snuggle on the couch in the evenings. Here at Oakden we have so many parks to explore.

I joined Angela in the Cuddles and Co program taking therapy dogs to residential care homes around a year ago with Moh. This is incredibly rewarding. Watching peoples faces light up when they see the dogs, is heart-warming. Having seen the impact having to part with their pets has on older people, I am passionate about the Purrpetuall Pets Service, keeping people with their loved companions; and for some their reason to keep going.

I have a long background in customer service in both retail and administration. Each new role I took on I researched as much as I could so I would go into it able to give my best to both the consumer and the business. I have taken this approach into caring for all the animals. I take this approach into pet care, striving to give my best in every situation and doing the research.

Comments from my friends:
You’re a ‘dog-tragic’, (I have to pat them all)
Can I be your dog? (That was when I was listing my dog’s favourite foods I cooked for him)
Mum you can’t keep them! (The first thing Elyse says to me when a dog comes into foster).
